Confrontations

Paintings by Henriette Dedichen on view at D APT Art Space.

Continually asserting the relevance of the ancient painting technique with pigments and tempera, Dedichen's paintings have inherent ambiguities between, on the one hand, an external existence of nature and objects in aesthetic and peaceful compositions, and, on the other, a powerful internal human existence full of dilemmas about freedom, responsibility, choice, faith and truths. Dedichen's paintings insist and challenge the beholder to go from the apparent to the genuine. Dedichen's paintings are inspired by the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, the father of existentialism.
